About the workplace

We comprise an inspired work community of environmental experts. Our aim is to build sustainable societies in close national and international partnership. We produce insightful solutions and services based on multi-disciplinary research and solid evidence base. Our operations are spread across four locations in Finland. Over half of our funding comes from external sources.

Work tasks

SYKE takes part in #ScienceforUkraine initiative. We offer a two-year fixed term position for a Ukrainian PhD researcher or postdoctoral researcher.

Relevant work could include e.g.:

* greenhouse gasses emissions and harmful substances

* sustainable material life-cycles and circular economy

* biodiversity conservation and nature-based solutions

* freshwater and marine resources and areas

* environmental policy and sustainability transition

As a researcher you will participate in national and international cooperation.

SYKE has offices in Helsinki, Oulu, Jyväskylä and Joensuu. The position will be based at one of SYKEs offices, depending on the recruiting department. We work in a flexible fashion at distance and at the office in an open plan space and multifunctional environment.

There are no prescribed qualifications requirement for the position.

Qualifications

To succeed in the position, we expect that you have a masters degree or a doctoral degree in natural sciences or environmental sciences. We also expect you to have (1-4 years) experience as a researcher or an expert in a scientific working community.

You also have good cooperation and interaction skills.

Other language skills

Good knowledge of both spoken and written English is a requirement

Commencement: 1.5.2022

Time-limited to: 30.4.2024 project work

Salary

The salary is determined based on task, personal performance and experience in accordance with SYKE's salary system, job grade 10-12 (EUR 3590,42 - 4300,69 / month).
